Blog - Mindfulness
There is no secret of the growing evidence of the positive benefits of regularly practising mindfulness. It is reported to improve the mental, emotional, and physical health of adults and young people. In well conducted mindfulness interventions, participants report reduced stress, anxiety, reactivity, improved sleep and self-esteem, feel calmer and more self-aware and an improved ability to manage their emotions.
KTC Occupational Therapist, Angela Costi has written an amazing blog about mindfulness, with tips and tricks for parents and their children, read more here.
Q&A with KTC Occupational Therapist, Jessica Gray
How long have you been an OT for?
3 months - but I have worked alongside kids with disabilities for 6 years.
What do you love the most about occupational therapy?
That no two days are the same, you can be helping a child with handwriting one day and jumping on a jumping castle with them the next.
What are you looking forward to the most at KTC this year?
really enjoy the social camps that KTC runs, I think they are a perfect blend of fun and challenging, and the kids really get a lot out of them. There's always fun activities for us OT's to participate in too like cooking, craft and video games.
What is your favourite thing about KTC?
I really like KTC's allied health team. I think we work together really well and if I ever need help with anything I know that they will all be willing to help out.
What is your favourite activity that parents can do at home with their kids?
I really enjoy incorporating chopsticks or tongs into meal time! It makes eating a more fun and enjoyable experience for kids, builds fine motor skills, strength and dexterity, and helps them learn a practical new skill.
The team at Kids Therapy Club would like to wish all of the wonderful mums, grandmas, aunties and carers a Happy Mothers Day.
Thank you for everything you do! We see you, we hear you and we love you!
Registrations are now open for the July Holiday Camp. This camp will run from 9am-3pm on Monday 5th July - Friday 9th July, at both our Parkwood and Yarrabilba locations. Limited spots available, click here to register your child's interest.
Have a happy week! - KTC Team.
